Tyres designed for city or commuter bikes are made with tough, hard-wearing rubber compounds, slick or semi-slick tread patterns and puncture protection. Some models may even feature an extra layer of material to help protect against debris. Commuter tyres are designed with long life and reliability in mind. When upgrading or replacing ensure the sizing is correct for your bike – most commuter or hybrid bikes will use the same 700c diameter wheels and tyres as road racing bikes but in a wider format (up to 32 or even 40mm). If your city bike has smaller wheels (26” or 27.5” MTB size) you’ll need tyres to match.
