Your forks are key to the handling of your road bike so it’s important to pick the right one. Most are made of lightweight carbon fibre, offering comfort. Aerodynamics are also taken into consideration, with forks shaped to optimise air flow. Forks can be designed to cater for rim or disc brakes, but check the type of brake mount standard used and that the dropout type is compatible with your wheels. If you want to use your bike for winter training, touring or commuting, rack and mudguard mounts may also be useful.
