BallisTec Carbon - Lighter and stiffer than aluminum, more shockproof than steel. BallisTec carbon can shake off rock strikes and impacts that would destroy SuperX flimsy competition. Ai Drivetrain - The heart of the SuperX System Integration is the, Ai, asymmetrically offset rear triangle and drivetrain. The offset shifts the rear hub and drivetrain 6 mm to the right, delivering super short chainstays without any of the usual compromises, and a rear wheel that is dramatically stiffer and stronger because the spoke tension and angles are equal on both sides. Cannondale then integrate this with their new Ai HollowGram spider, which moves the chainrings an equal 6 mm to the right, balancing the system and maintaining perfect chain-line, shifting performance and Q-factor. SPEED SAVE MicroSuspension - Borrowing principles from F1 racing where suspension is more for traction than comfort, the Speed SAVE stays allow for a bit of vertical flex to help keep the wheel on the ground. The compliance comes from a flattened central section on the chainstays and seatstays. Cannondale says the result is better traction and power transfer on rough courses, and it may make it one of the more comfortable race bikes out there. Tapered head tube - The oversized steering base takes a 1 1/8" - 1 1/2" full carbon fork on what makes the best mix of high lateral- and torsional- rigidity at low weight. BB3-83 - At the center of the power transmission the frame features a extra wide BB3 bottom bracket with 83 mm support. The oversized spindle certainly has stiffness advantages. Just to summarize all it can be said: Cannondale took its proven BallisTec Carbon construction and tweaked the geometry for a superior cross-specific ride and the perfect all-terrain road bike. Along with the gorgeous, great-handling carbon frame and carbon fork, you get a tough HollowGram Si Carbon Clincher wheelset and a precision-shifting Shimano Ultegra 2x11-speed drivetrain with light, stiff HollowGram Si cranks and powerful Shimano BR785 disc brakes.
