Biography: Sheffield native Adam Blythe is Aqua Blue Sport’s fast finisher, specialising in one-day Classics and flatter stages where he can contest the gallop to the line.

A well-known figure in the peloton, Blythe is a former UK National Road Race Champion having bested Mark Cavendish to the line in the 2016 edition and proudly worn the champion’s colours for the next 12 months.

Having joined Aqua Blue Sport for the team’s maiden year in 2017, Blythe notched a series of strong finishes in early-season European races, including second places in both the Handzame Classic (1.1) and Danilith-Nokere Koerse (1.HC) and 4th in the Ronde van Drenthe (1.1).

He was also a member of the nine-strong squad that contested La Vuelta a España, finishing third in the second stage from Nîmes to Gruissan.

For 2018 Blythe is focused on converting those podium places into wins, and with the additional of Kiwi leadout specialist Shane Archbold to the team stands a strong change of standing atop a podium.

“My main ambition for 2018 is to win a race,” he said.

“It’s never nice to not have won a race in a season but our team goal for next year is to keep building and to get as many victories as we can.”
