Biography: Sheffield native Adam Blythe is Aqua Blue Sport’s fast man, specialising in one-day Classics and flatter stages where he can contest the gallop to the line. In his maiden season with the team Blythe has been consistently knocking on the door, with a numerous top 10 placings as well as podium spots on semi-Classics.

A well-known figure in the peloton, Blythe is a former UK National Road Race Champion having bested Mark Cavendish to the line in the 2016 edition and proudly worn the champion’s colours for the next 12 months.

Blythe began his career on the track where he notched a string of notable victories as a youngster, including national U16 pursuit and scratch titles and two European Junior titles in the team pursuit (2005 and 2006).

Shifting his focus to the road in 2007, Blythe cut his teeth in continental racing with a Belgian feeder squad before making his professional breakthrough in 2009, joining Silence-Lotto as a stagiaire. He moved to BMC Racing Team in 2012 as a leadout man for Philippe Gilbert, and to British Continental outfit NFTO in 2014, with whom he took first place in that year’s Prudential RideLondon Classic. A switch back to World Tour level with Orica GreenEDGE followed in 2015, before Blythe found a home for 2016 with Tinkoff, where he played a key role supporting Peter Sagan in the Classics, as well as winning the British National Championships.

“Aqua Blue Sport offers me a great opportunity to get the most out of myself, and to have the support to be able to do that," Blythe said.

“As long as I am doing well on my bike and hitting the goals that I want to hit - if you are happy and doing something you love, everything else well fall into place.”
